Leak test of flexible packaging during the production process

Quality control of flow packs, doy packs, and spouts

This application note describes the leak testing of flexible packaging such as flow packs, doy packs, and spouts during the production process. The goal is the reliable detection of leaky packaging or packaging with unacceptable leakage. To achieve this, a combination of optical image processing and conventional leak testing with compressed air is used.

A laboratory resp. benchtop solution is presented for this purpose, into which the product is manually loaded. For industrial use, an inline testing system was developed that can be integrated directly into production lines. This system operates with multiple test heads, automatic loading and unloading, and a testing capacity of several hundred parts per minute.

The leak testers used (CETATEST LV, Inline CETA tester) were developed specifically for the requirements of the packaging industry.
