THYRITOP NEW RANGE OF POWER CONTROLLERS

4 MODELS, FROM 15 A TO 600 A

What is power control for?

Usually controlled by control loops, static relays, static contactors and thyristor power controllers handle the switching of the high electrical power required by industrial processes. They are good replacements for electromechanical power contactors.

Indeed, their solid-state operating principle overcomes the contact wear problems encountered with electromechanical systems, which cause very costly production downtime. To increase the time between two contact changes, the contactor switching period is extended, leading to deterioration of the control loop.

Electromechanical contactors are designed to switch the power without worrying about the electrical disturbances generated on the network. The higher the power to be switched, the greater the disturbances on the network, which may cause malfunctions on the electronic equipment installed on the network.

Thyristor controllers offer a significantly longer life span with very high switching speeds. On high-value resistive or inductive loads in single-phase or three-phase systems, they offer high accuracy at the level of the control loop. The switching is performed when the network voltage reaches zero, thus minimizing electromagnetic disturbances.

On the top-of-the-range models, advanced limitation, control, load supervision and auto-surveillance functions boost the reliability of installations equipped with these devices.

Applications like annealing, drying, melting and heating of glass, plastics or metals often require optimized temperature control. Automation of temperature control ensures that precise temperatures are achieved and that the energy for heating is used efficiently. In this way, installation of a power controller enables more efficient use of raw materials and helps to reduce energy consumption by adapting it according to the requirements.

A new range with extended functionality

There are four models with current ranges from 15 A to 600 A.

• THYRITOP 100 | 25 to 90 A, the most widely-used type of static relay in the world of industry,

• THYRITOP 200 | 15 to 120 A, the static contactors required to control electrical loads without electromagnetic interference,

• THYRITOP 500 | 25 à 250 A, the ideal power controllers for comprehensive information on the current values, voltages and power values in industrial electric heating processes,

• THYRITOP 600 | 40 to 600 A, power controllers which can adapt to all types of industrial heating with field buses, whatever the application.

Whether single-phase, split-phase or three-phase, the new THYRITOP models withstand overvoltages better, with admissible peaks of up to 15 x In depending on the models. They also withstand di/dt current variations better to avoid damage when the thyristor is activated and offer better resistance to dv/dt voltage variations, ensuring that the thyristor is not reactivated when it is cut off.

CA PYROCONTROLE guarantees an unlimited life span (in the absence of incidents) for its new range which represents a good replacement for electromechanical contactors.

With their configurable logical and analogue inputs/outputs, CA PYROCONTROLE offers a range covering all your power control requirements, whatever the application.

Open to a wide range of connection technologies and communication protocols, the new THYRITOP models are totally innovative for the industrial sector. On the THYRITOP 600 model, Modbus RS485 communication is proposed as standard and up to six other protocols are available as options: CANopen, Profibus, Profinet, Ethercat, DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP.

Modern, compact and safe

With their resolutely contemporary design and sleek aesthetics, the new THYRITOP models are also very compact, with a reduced dimensional footprint. This is a major advantage at a time when space saving is crucial for electrical switchboards.

The THYRITOP 600 includes everything you need to keep its operation safe over time, with internal status LEDs visible on the front panel and temperature measurement points on sensitive areas such as the power terminals, the radiator or the power board.

Simple implementation

The new THYRITOP models are designed to facilitate the implementation and startup phases. Thanks to the PYROTOOLS software which can be downloaded free of charge from the website www.pyrocontrole.com/support, you can display and analyse the parameters and use the function for recording and archiving the data collected. A simple, clever tool which is also free.

The THYRITOP 600, meanwhile, is equipped with a unit called THYRITOP REMOTE which can be fastened to the front panel of the controller for immediate readings of the main current and voltage parameters., without installing any extra software.

To optimize your energy consumption and stay within the kW or MW limits of your subscription, the PYROAlm module (PYRO Advanced load management) can be used to manage the triggering times of 12 to 64 THYRITOP, thus avoiding any excessive power demand.
