Adaptability Analysis on Hastelloy and Coating of Vibration Fork Liquid Level Switch

Coating and Hastelloy material are commonly used for anti-corrosion applications for Vibration Fork Liquid Level Switch. Does Hastelloy material have better anti-corrosion performance than coating?

Vibration Fork Liquid Level Switches use tuning fork technology to provide reliable liquid point level detection. They consist of an oscillating or tuning fork, which resonate in air with a known natural frequency. The resonance frequency will be reduced when the fork is brought into contact with a medium.

Common coatings are PTFE, PCTFE and F46. Hastelloy is a corrosion-resistant nickel alloy that contains other chemical elements such as chromium and molybdenum. This material has high temperature resistance and exceptional corrosion resistance.

Coating and Hastelloy material are commonly used for anti-corrosion applications for Vibration Fork Liquid Level Switch. Does Hastelloy material have better anti-corrosion performance than coating?

The answer is no. Corrosion is a chemical reaction that typically increases the corrosion rate by 1-3 times for every 10℃ increase in temperature. The impact of flow rate on corrosion is also complex. In most cases, the higher the flow rate, the greater the corrosion. The anti-corrosion performance of coatings and Hastelloy also depends on the specific working environment and conditions. For example, Hastelloy has high corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing mineral acid (hydrochloric acid, medium concentration sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, etc.) and organic acids (acetic acid, formic acid, etc.). Hastelloy is the most prominent in resistance to concentrated hot hydrochloric acid. However, when nitric acid or other oxidizing agents are present in hydrochloric acid, severe corrosion may occur on Hastelloy, and in this case, the performance of coating is better. The anti-corrosion performance of coating depends on factors such as the type, thickness, and quality of the coating material. Therefore, Hastelloy and coating have different advantages and adaptability, and the specific selection depends on the actual applications and conditions.

The Ring-11 Liquid Level Switch provides a variety of coating, Hastelloy and other materials according to different working conditions. In terms of material selection, Hastelloy is made of C-22 material that has better resistance to uniform corrosion in oxidizing media than C-4 and C-276. In the coating spraying process, Jiwei is well aware that the weld seam is the most difficult part to control about the coating quality. Jiwei uses double-sided butt welding and continuous welding techniques to ensure the reliability of the weld seam. At the same time, Jiwei polishes the edges and corners to improve the adhesion of the coating.
