Structural Design and Installation Precautions for Fork Level Switches
In this article, we discuss the unique structural design of Fork Level Switch from the relative positions of the fork body, process connection and housing to figure out the question.
Recently, some users have reported that when installing Fork Level Switches, the relative position or orientation between the fork body and the cable entry of each instrument is inconsistent. In this article, we discuss the unique structural design of Fork Level Switch from the relative positions of the fork body, process connection and housing to figure out the question.
1. Fork body: the two pieces of fork body are only 40mm. There is a concave point designed in the middle of the body surface, which is also the alarm point for liquid level detection. When liquid level reaches the concave point, an alarm signal will be output. For an accurate measurement, please keep the direction of the fork surface parallel to the direction of liquid flow during installation.
2. Process connection: Fork Level Switch has six faces on the process connection. There are steel marks and dots engraved on the two opposite sides of the hexagon, and the direction of the fork body can be identified by corresponding to the dots on the process connection during installation, which can ensure that the fork body and the liquid flow are in the same direction, and facilitate the measurement accuracy.
3. Housing: There are two types of housing classifications, non explosion-proof housing and explosion-proof housing. The connection part between the non explosion-proof housing and the process connection is a snap connection with a positioning pin instead of threaded connection. The process connection and the housing are connected and can be rotated 360° to the left or right, so users can rotate to any desired position. The explosion-proof housing and process connection are connected with screw threads, which can be rotated back about 360° after tightening. For single instrument installation, the screw threads can be rotated to the end. For multiple instruments, the cable entries can be rotated to the same direction for an orderly look. The housing and process connection are equipped with an "O" type sealing gasket to ensure the sealing performance. Therefore, both non explosion-proof housing and explosion-proof housing can effectively and flexibly solve the problem of inconsistent wiring direction at the cable entry.
The main purpose of the rotatable housing design is to prevent moisture. When a level switch is installed outdoors or in a humid environment, the rainwater or condensate may flow into the housing along with the cable, causing a short circuit or damage to the internal components. To prevent the issue, simply rotate the housing and bend the cable into a "U" shape.
