On the afternoon of July 27, the China Aviation Manufacturing Equipment Product Introduction Conference sponsored by AVIC SUPPLY CORPORATION was successfully held.

Conprofe as a powerful representative of high-end CNC machine tool industry, was invited to participate in this meeting, launching Conprofe's new product - Handheld Ultrasonic Pneumatic Drill, and sharing innovative application solutions of ultrasonic-green machining in the aerospace industry.

Conprofe’s New Product Launch

Composite materials are used more and more widely in the aerospace field, but there are many problems in perforation process , such as high cutting resistance, delamination, fiber pull-out and matrix breakage, etc. Therefore, Conprofe integrates ultrasonic technology with traditional pneumatic drill to develop Handheld Ultrasonic Pneumatic Drill. With assistance from ultrasonic vibration on the drill bit, cutting force is significantly reduced. Both efficiency and hole quality are improved as a result.

1. Tool wear comparison between traditional and ultrasonic pneumatic drilling

The maximum tool wear is 0.081mm with traditional pneumatic drill; With ultrasonic pneumatic drill, the tool wear is only 0.029mm, a reduction of 64%.

2. Comparison of delamination length under different ultrasonic power outputs

The test shows that the performance with ultrasonic is significantly better than with the traditional drilling (no ultrasonic). There are serious delamination damages after traditional drilling with the 6.51mm delamination. With ultrasonic power increase, the hole’s delamination length is significantly decreased to 0.75mm, a remarkable reduction of 88%!
