Cubic-Ruiyi Continuous Emissions Monitoring System for Marine Exhaust Gas

Cubic-Ruiyi has specially developed the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System for Marine Exhaust Gas (Gasboard-9085) which can help ship owners to prove compliance with the limits set for airborne pollution in MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI.

Ship emissions problems caused by the rapid development of maritime trade increasingly become a more stringent topic of public interest. Marine diesel engines produce a variety of air pollutants including sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrous oxides (NOx), carbon dioxide (CO2), and carbon monoxide (CO). Among them, SOx and NOx are identified by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as the primary exhaust pollutants requiring control because they directly affect our global climate and the acidification of the oceans.

Inspired by environmental concerns, Cubic-Ruiyi has specially developed the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System for Marine Exhaust Gas (Gasboard-9085) which can help ship owners to prove compliance with the limits set for airborne pollution in MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI. Gasboard-9085 is based on three core gas analysis technologies of ultra-violet differential optical absorption spectroscopy (UV-DOAS), non-dispersive infrared (NDIR), and electrochemical (ECD), which can realize accurate real-time monitoring of multiple gas components. Based on UV-DOAS technology, Gasboard-9085 can provide accurate and real-time measurement of low-concentration SO2 and NO. With NDIR gas analyzing technology, it can measure CO and CO2 in exhaust gases with ultra-low range to ppm level. Additionally, it can support O2 measurement by a long-lifetime ECD sensor. Besides of realizing a superior detection performance, Gasboard-9085 is also especially designed to be suitable for marine scenarios and with targets for low maintenance costs. Gasboard-9085 is with modularized sensing elements which are easily replaced from the fields and have excellent features of resistance to vibration, humidity and temperature.

The Continuous Emissions Monitoring System for Marine Exhaust Gas (Gasboard-9085) has been approved by ABS, KR and NKK. It is adaptable to most standard ship types, including oil tankers, chemical carriers, container ships, cargo ships, ferries, passenger ships, and other special-purpose vessels.

Key Features of Continuous Emissions Monitoring System for Marine Exhaust Gas (Gasboard-9085) Include:

• Different technologies combination of UV-DOAS, NDIR and ECD for SO2, NO, CO, CO2, O2 concentration measurement

• Suitable to be used under scenarios of vibration, high temperature, and humidity

• Cyclic monitoring of multiple sampling points

• Integrated filters to separate liquid water from the sample gas

• Various data output interfaces provide data for remote monitoring and process adjustment

• PLC (as the core control element) & OMRON intermediate relay (as the output element) for automatically performing sampling, drainage, fault handling and other operations
