Cubic Flammable Refrigerant Monitoring System Laboratory Obtains Inaugural Accreditation in Intertek Asia Pacific Region

Cubic was recognized as SATELLITE Laboratory

Recently, Cubic Flammable Refrigerant Monitoring System Laboratory received formal recognition from Intertek Group (hereinafter referred to as Intertek). A grand certification ceremony was held at Cubic R&D Center, attended by leaders from Intertek and Cubic.

Addressing the current trends in the application and development of new types of flammable refrigerants, and future collaborations between the two parties, a symposium was held, where Intertek's General Manager for Electronics and Electricals in Northeast China stated,

"Against the backdrop of the global decarbonization goals, Europe and the United States have taken the lead in proposing timelines for banning the application of high GWP refrigerants. However, low GWP refrigerants possess flammable and explosive characteristics, which requires to be equipped with refrigerant monitoring systems according to the requirements of UL 60335-2-40 and IEC-60335-2-40 standards.”

Mr. Zhiqiang Liu, the General Manager of Cubic, mentioned,

"Cubic is among the earliest global enterprises researching flammable refrigerant gas sensors. Leveraging 20 years of accumulated platform-based gas sensor and analytical instrument technology, coupled with a deep understanding of UL 60335-2-40 and IEC-60335-2-40 standards, Cubic has established a complete set of refrigerant monitoring solutions, including experimental equipment for air conditioning companies, third-party certification laboratory equipment meeting the requirements of UL 60335-2-40 and IEC-60335-2-40 standards, air conditioning/refrigerant production line environmental gas leak alarms, and gas leak alarm sensors for air conditioning systems."

The accredited flammable refrigerant monitoring system laboratory obtained by Cubic employs independently developed detection equipment, capable of conducting safety tests for various refrigerant systems (such as R32, R454B, R454C, R290, R1234yf, R1234ZE, etc.), such as the safety testes outlined in the Annex LL and Annex MM of the UL60335-2-40 and IEC60335-2-40 standards. With the goal of assisting enterprises in promptly completing safety assessments for air conditioning and refrigeration products using low GWP flammable refrigerants, Cubic's accredited laboratory enables them to acquire reliable reports and certificates for market entry, expediting the launch of new products into the market.

Intertek is a globally leading comprehensive quality assurance service institution with robust capabilities in HVAC-R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) energy efficiency testing and extensive global service experience. Intertek's third-party laboratories comply with the testing standards of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and are trusted partners of authoritative industry bodies such as AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute) and AHAM.

Cubic has consistently adhered to independent research and development, maintaining ongoing research investment. Based on two technological innovation platforms—a provincial-level enterprise technology center and a gas analysis instrumentation engineering technology research center—along with a post-doctoral research workstation, Cubic remains committed to providing gas sensing solutions for safety monitoring in the HVAC-R industry with continuous deepening of technological and product innovation, thereby driving technological innovation and upgrading across the entire supply chain.
