Darveen helps the Port of Berbera to be “smart”
The Port of Berbera, also known as Berbera Port, is located in northwest coast of Somalia (Full name: The Somali Republic) and invested by DP World. 153 miles from Djibouti Port, the port is adjacent to the southwest of Gulf of Aden, and is the largest port in the north of Somalia. Constructed in 1970s, the port is the distribution center for agricultural and livestock products as well as business center for the northern region. The Berbera Port area has three major quay berths, a shoreline of 700 meters, and maximum water depth of 11.5m. Its loading and unloading equipment include shore cranes, movable cranes, trailers, and li/lo equipment. Among them, the movable cranes have maximum lifting capacity of 40 tons, and the trailers have maximum power consumption of 880KW. In order to speed up container operation in the wharf and improve wharf container handling efficiency, the Port of Berbera has purchased a number of industrial vehicle mount computers VT-658W which will be used for container terminal operation.
Continuous growth of global maritime trade. With the development of international shipping trade and increasing ship volume, the global ports and container wharves have growing demand for intelligent operation. For this purpose, Darveen Technology has put forward “Container wharf solution” for the intelligent construction of wharves and ports, and designed a series of industrial computers for various application environments. Combined with stable wireless communication network and related technologies, the computers can help the control center easily command computer terminals installed in any corner of the port. In this way, the operating efficiency of the port gets improved, and intelligent operation of the port realized.
