SRI3/H Surveyor for medical insulation control

In systems with isolated neutral IT-M is not required the intervention of the protections for the first fault to earth: the breakdown must be indicated acoustically and optically by one or more small remote panels signaling PSR3.

The surveyor is able to detect insulation defects of the resistive type even in presence of continuous voltages.

Standards :

The safety of electrical installations in rooms used at medical purposes is guaranteed by the CEI EN 1557-8 and CEI EN 64-8/7 - Part 7 Section 710.

The standards divides the medical locations in three classes:

- Local “class 0” :

is medical room where it is not used medical equipment parts applied. In this type of room apply the general standard equipment on the premises and not the norm for medical use.

- Local “class 1”

is medical room where equipment is used with applied parts intended to be used externally or even invasively within any part of the body, excluding the area of the heart.

- Local “class 2”

Is medical room with danger of microshock are used where equipment with applied parts intended for use in surgical operations, or intracardiac interventions, where the patient''s vital functions can be compromised by the lack of power supply.

The surveyor for medical insulation type SRI3/H with remote panel signaling type PSR3 fully meet the requirements of legislation in force, it is suitable to control all locals classification (class 0 - 1 and 2).

- Ensure that the over-current through an external CT to prevent failure of isolation transformer or other electrical equipments

- Check the proper functioning of the TA

- Ensure that the over-temperature of the transformer with external PT100 sensor

- Monitor the functioning of the PT100 sensor (shorted or disconnected)

- Monitors the value of the mains voltage and thanks to thresholds for minimum and maximum value, avoid damage or malfunction of sensitive biomedical devices connected to the network

- Monitors the connection status of the surveyor with the system in order to ensure continuity of supervision; the instrument is able to notice the loss of connection to the PE or isolating transformer.

- 1 relay output for signaling the insulation below the set threshold

- 1 relay output for alarm signaling generic (TA, PT100, etc.)

- An acoustic device with two different ring tones depending on the type of alarm

- RS485 serial Modbus RTU standard

- Ease interface with data logger Dossena Multilog-Eth type that without dedicated software is able to historicize parameters, measurements and events.

Application recommendations:

The surveyor for medical insulation type SRI3/H must be installed in all the locals “class 2”, in particular : hospitals, medical clinics, physicians and dentists, veterinary clinics and in all those environments where is using medical equipments or for aesthetic use by parties applied to the patient, be it person or animal.

Installation suggestions:

To fully comply with the technical features of our surveyor for medical insulation type SRI3/H is recommended the installation as application diagram.

To connect with isolation transformer and earth (PE) is recommended to use cables with a minimum section of 1.5 mm ².

For connections between the surveyor and the remote panels signaling PSR3 is recommended to use shielded cable with a minimum cross section of 0.5 mm ².
