SAND DREDGING IN RIVER NIGER
Dragflow was contacted by Matag, a nigerian dredging company, about acquiring a dredge to increase their capacity to dredge sand to supply local markets in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, as well as Asaba, Delta State, which is a sister city on the other side of historic river Niger. The company was interested in expanding their scope not only to sell sand or contract dredge, but also to have the ability for reclamation along the river. With a previously owned Cutter/Suction Dredge that had a digging limit of approximately 10-12m, the company was limited to seasonal dredging, due to the limits of their dredging depth of 12m.
The river Niger is known to rise as much as 8 meter more during the Wet Season, especially when dams were opened up in Garouwa, Cameroon, which is approximately 1200km away, on River Benue, and Kainji Dam which is approximately 900km away from the site. Matag needed a dredge that could work continuously through the season.
Our Solutions: Dragflow supplied Matag with the model DRH400E35DF, configured to reach a depth of 35m, equipped with DRAGFLOW HY400 submersible pump. With this solutions, Matag has successfully deployed their dredge and has begun to work since the end of July 2015. The client is very happy and satisfied with the production that is being achieved, as well as the efficiency in their cost of production. The Dragflow product supplied far surpasses the production of their other dredge, and will allow them to continue working in all seasons. Best of all, the client admitted that their cost of acquisition was less than that of the previous Dredge that had been acquired.
The Dragflow solution has reduced the cost of production, with far less hassles of operation, and allows the client to dredge to 30+ meter depths on River Niger. The Teamwork of Dragflow Srl, with the logistics coordination of Dragflow Ltd, Nigeria led by Mr. Femi Animashaun (Dealer/Distributor) has led to another successful deployment, and a very happy customer.
