Dunlop GRG announces ISO certification for its Low Pressure Pneumatic Fenders

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies. The ISO 17357 specifies the material, performance, and dimensions of low pressure floating pneumatic rubber fenders as well as the minimum test and inspection procedures. Dunlop low pressure fenders had previously been fully manufactured in accordance with the ISO standard for high pressure fenders. Dunlop had been liaising with the ISO committee to amend the international standard to also include low pressure fenders, based on their own testing procedures, and is pleased to now be recognised with this new standard.

Dunlop GRG design, develop and manufacture a large range of fabricated, rubber coated textile products for many applications. They have been supplying LP pneumatic fenders to the maritime industry for over 30 years. Unlike other fenders, Dunlop LP fenders are unique in that they are designed to spread berthing forces over a large area, achieving a far lower load reaction than any other fender system. This makes the Dunlop fender ideal for use with naval vessels with thin hulls and sensitive electronic systems requiring protection when berthing. While durable enough to stand up to the most hostile environments at sea, the fenders are relatively lightweight and easy to deflate and store for later use. Considerably lighter than a high pressure fender of equivalent performance, they can easily be carried, inflated and deployed in a range of applications, via air, sea or land. Available in a wide range of sizes, they can also be custom made to a specific requirement.

With many years of experience in the field and rigorous testing procedures for their products, Dunlop is very pleased that their LP pneumatic fender now meets the comprehensive ISO 17357 specification.
