The Coldest Journey - The Ultimate challenge for both humans and Dunlop GRG equipment

The purpose-built Polar Flexi Tanks manufactured from thermo plastic coated fabric were designed to perform under the extremely hostile conditions, including temperatures reaching as low as -89.9º C. Each carrying a massive 8,000 litres of fuel, the flexi tanks were chosen over other tanks because they are lightweight, therefore requiring less fuel to transport, while still being extremely durable, with minimal risk of rupture under extreme conditions.

The Coldest Journey has provided the ultimate testing ground for Trelleborg & Dunlop GRG technology, in particular the performance of vehicles and specially designed equipment in such ultra-cold conditions. In addition to the invaluable scientific research relating to climate change, this journey will also provide unique insights into the performance of humans and their equipment in extremely hostile conditions. The fuel tanks have now been handed over to the IPF (International Polar Foundation) for their ongoing use in polar conditions. Dunlop GRG is honored to have taken part in this historic journey, putting their equipment to the ultimate test. We congratulate the super human effort of the team and wish them and Sir Ranulph all the best in future endeavors.

Dunlop GRG are happy to announce that Sir Ranulp will be visiting our Factory for a special event in August this year, if you are interested in attending or for further information please contact Laura.morgan@trelleborg.com or telephone 0161 653 5964, final details and invites will be published closer to the event.
