Specialist lecture by ebm-papst at the SPS in Nuremberg

Fans in the industrial environment face major challenges

The trend towards higher power densities for control cabinets, frequency inverters and other industrial applications means that cooling demand continues to increase. This also results in high demands on the fans used. David Krusemark, Sales Engineer in the IVT-Industrial division at ebm-papst, explains this topic in a lecture at the VDMA Forum as part of the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg.

Due to the increasing power density and at the same time reduced space requirements, EC fans are increasingly used in industrial applications. EC technology offers many advantages: control and control of the fans according to requirements, and is also significantly superior to AC fans in terms of efficiency.

The change from the previous AC to the energy-efficient EC technology leads to new challenges. This is due to the sometimes considerable contamination of the supply networks, which are often also outside the standards. EC fans must meet the increasing demands in the industrial environment and, for example, be designed differently from fans designed for use in household applications. In recent years, ebm-papst has dealt with this problem in numerous field trials. Due to intensive research and development work, the EC fans have now been modified for industrial use. In his presentation, Krusemark deals with case studies and solutions, among other things.

In the future, GreenIntelligence will be able to use other features such as predictive maintenance, condition monitoring or the acquisition of additional control and control functions by the fan.
