Cleaning is everything

Eisele connection technology guarantees a reliable connection method for process systems and fulfils the stringent hygienic requirements of the food industry.

Many everyday objects have to be dismantled into their single parts in order to clean them thoroughly at regular intervals. We tend to make things easier on ourselves by letting these intervals become quite long. In the food industry, cleaning is performed based on an entirely different principle. Hygienic products are possible only if the systems are cleaned thoroughly and very frequently, often several times per production shift. This is true not only of internal cleaning, but also cleaning of the system components from the outside. Cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation of production facilities and distribution systems are critical and quality-determining work steps. The need to perform this work effectively without disassembly of the respective components led to the development of CIP/SIP technology (cleaning in place, sterilisation in place). Pentair Südmo manufactures CIP/SIP systems and uses, among other components, high-quality connections from the connection specialist Eisele.

Südmo is convinced by connections from Eisele, and has been for 15 years. The threaded elbow joints, e.g. for connecting control air to the valve actuators, are easy to mount and withstand the very demanding external cleaning processes and even aggressive chemicals. The connections are designed to be less susceptible to impurities and can be cleaned especially thoroughly from the outside. The service spectrum of Pentair Südmo ranges from the manufacture of high-quality stainless steel components such as double seat valves to the engineering and implementation of entire process and cleaning systems for the beverage, food and pharmaceutical industries.

Mixproof double seat valves from Pentair Südmo ensure a high degree of process safety and reliability. Absolute reliability is possible, however, only if every system component, however small, reliably performs its function. A secure connection of the pneumatic valves and fittings to a central compressed air supply network by means of “IntelliTop 2.0” process control heads with high-quality all-metal connections is therefore a basic prerequisite. To meet the required standards, the connections, as well as the complete systems, are manufactured from stainless steel. In all process systems with pneumatic connections Pentair Südmo therefore takes advantage of the outstanding characteristics of Eisele products, in order to fulfil widely varying requirements and extreme operating conditions around the world.

A suitable solution for every application

Pneumatic connections from Eisele are ideal for systems with frequent cleaning cycles: With the 17 and 17a series, the specialist for connecting technology offers a broad spectrum of different types for this application. The high-quality overall result is achieved not only when the stainless steel elements, but also all other components are selected according to stringent criteria. In the food industry, approval by the American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is the seal of quality required for materials. Eisele equips its connections for these industries with FDA-approved seals. Series 17 includes connections with a release sleeve. Especially smooth surfaces and the special design prevent dirt and other residue from accumulating. Cleaning is also extremely easy.

Series 17a is similar. The connections are equipped with two seals, which make them ideal for applications with special sealing requirements and for applications with high pressures or for use with fluids. Both series can also be used with stainless steel pipes. The pipe only has to be provided with a recess, so that it can then be connected just as easily and securely as a hose. Eisele has a suitable solution for every application; besides stainless steel, also for cooling water and compressed air circuits. Matching hoses of the in-house brand ProWeld round out the product spectrum.

Clean on the inside, too

Connections without dead zones where residue can accumulate are important for circuits with sensitive substances or requirements for high flexibility due to frequently changing media. Within the Inoxline, Eisele offers Freeline connections with no dead zones or gaps, which makes them especially fast and easy to clean from the inside. This design allows reliable flushing of the lines before changing media. It is not necessary to disassemble systems for cleaning, since there are no dead zones where residue can accumulate. This even makes it possible to create sterile environments. The use of hose connections is especially beneficial in circuits with many moving parts, since the hoses are much more flexible than pipes. Before connecting, the hose is adapted so that it ensures a reliable connection. A seal is not needed for this series, thus eliminating one point of attack for aggressive substances. Also, seals of the quality required for the applications where Freeline connections are used represent a significant cost factor. The dead zone-free seal implemented in Eisele’s Freeline 3600 series is patented.

The 3800 series low dead zone connections enable even faster mounting. For these connections, adaptation of the hose is not necessary. These connections therefore offer a high-quality solution for many applications.
