Absolute Linear Transducers with IO-Link Interface
An advanced solution for position measurement in industrial automation
PNS and PN2S integrate the transducer measurement function with the features offered by IO-Link protocol: communication, interoperability, ease of installation.
Thanks to IO-Link technology, the new transducers, besides detecting the position, transmit a series of cyclic (process) and acyclic data (parameters, error messages, warnings, notifications) in real time; this allows for optimal, even remote, production management (as in IIoT systems).
The IO-Link master is compatible with most industrial fieldbuses, thus facilitating integration into existing systems. Data transmission, based on a 24V signal, is clean and secure, immune to interference.
Like all smart sensors, PNS and PN2S allow for the setting of operational parameters, such as maximum position, increment direction, and alarm thresholds for temperature or position. They also support a diagnostic function for system monitoring, which facilitates predictive machine maintenance. The resolution is 12 bits (4096 steps). The resistive element made of conductive plastic ensures precision, repeatability and a long life.
The transducers are available in two versions:
- PN2S ILK, equipped with two ball joints at the ends, with strokes ranging from 50 to 500 mm, and
- PNS ILK, with strokes from 50 to 950 mm, and. The PNS transducers may optionally mount a ball joint or a mis-alignment joint, or a feeler pin, and the external return spring (up to 150 mm stroke).
Both types are cased in a sturdy aluminum housing ensuring excellent resistance to shock, vibration and environmental agents. Connections are provided by the 4-pin M12 connector, as per IO-Link standard.
The transducers simple installation and commissioning is an added advantage:
- Mechanical fixing occurs by means of metal supports along the transducer body.
- As with all IO-Link systems, the wiring is reduced, as the signal and power supply pass through a single, unshielded cable, with a maximum length of 20 metres.
- Devices can be easily configured using the Port Configuration Tool: the software recognises the devices connected to the Master, and automatically downloads the descriptor files (IODDs).
Furthermore, IO-Link features the self-parameterization, a function of the Master that saves all the parameters of the connected devices: in case of transducer replacement, the Master automatically reconfigures the device, making maintenance operations easier.
