USM – universal fault annunciation with IEC 61850 protocol
The new alarm module of the company EES is a perfect ragman for the digital substational control technology, as fault alarm devices can be integrated in the station automation of electrical medium voltage- and high-voltage switchgear per IEC 61850 standard
The USM is the highlight of the product portfolio, which extends from simple displaying devices and programmable fault annunciators to networkable fault annunciators with integrated IEC protocol interface. The USM is available in 2 variants. It can either be used to display messages for example via IEC-104 interface or to record conditions through the galvanic inputs. Processing is done per standardized or individual alarm sequences, which can be provided on the IEC 61850 bus to other subscribers as single- and collective reports. With aid of the integrated web-server both the parameterization of the fault annunciator and the configuration of the IEC 61850 and IEC-101 or -104 interface can be done easily and comfortable without using additional programs. Moreover there are diverse adjustments to influence the alarm sequence. Furthermore the web interface enables to export and import data, which are necessary for a superior 61850 engineering tool. The IEC 61850 interface supports all necessary services and functions like datasets, reporting and GOOSE. Pre-fabricated templates for the parameterization of different applications simplify the integration of the device into plants. The USM is available in supply- and alarm voltages from 24V to 230V AC/DC. The number of alarm inputs ranges from 8 to 48 alarm inputs in maximum extension, in which a cascading with 4 devices per CAN bus results in a fault annunciation unit with up to 192 messages. An immune design as well as stable IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101 and -104 links guarantee a reliable operation of the devices in each application.
