Plastic is undoubtedly one of the main sources of environmental pollution. By 2060, the amount of plastic waste will triple, rising from 460 million tons in 2019 to 1.231 million tons in 2060. These are alarming figures, considering that EU targets call for 55% of plastic packaging waste to be recycled by 2030. A rethink and innovative solutions are needed across the board. Europe and the US are leading by example and are already world leaders in plastic recycling innovations and alternative plastic technologies. We will need even more plastic recycling solutions in the coming years as government and consumer pressure increases.
