Elma extends its product range of mechanical coded switches

mechanical coded switches (type 07PL, 07ML, und 07P2T). The new coded switches

are based on the million of times approved standard mini coded switch type 07. The

further development of the standard type resulted in additional features such as push-button-function, a second layer with on/off function and a push-to-turn function (to

prevent unintended switching). The established signs of quality by Elma, such as

excellent switching torque feeling, long-lasting mechanical life and reliability also for

rugged/extreme environment are still common standards at all the new switches.

The additional functions cover further needs of the market and now the new product

ideas can be realized.” In addition, the supply is secured as these switches are not

falling under the ITAR regulations. There is a wide range of possible applications, from

high-end home applications to outdoor-equipment for extreme/rugged environments.

The product description of the new coded switches:

07PL – mechanical coded switch with “push-button” function

The coded switch type 07PL comes with push-button function with various push forces of 3, 5, 10 and 14N. The push-button function is excellent convenient for the

menu control. By activating the push-button the menu can be switched. By using the rotary switch function the menu can be addressed and afterwards dialled with the

push-button.

07ML – mechanical multi layer coded switch with

on/off function

The coded switch type 07ML comes with an additional layer, which makes two times up to 16-position switching possible. With this switching possibility complex applications can be realized easily or it can be used for double security at avionics.

Additionally, this switch is equipped with an on/off function.

Applications which should be switched on or off with a turning movement requires this function. In order to contact the first switching position, a resistance has to be overcome by higher force. The higher switch-on force serves either as tactile feedback or as security function to prevent unintended switching.

07P2T – mechanical coded switch with „Push-to-turn“ function

The coded switch type 07P2T comes with a mechanical security mechanism to prevent unintended switching. The “Push-to-turn” function implies no switching or turning at the parking position. In order to turn/activate the switch, the shaft has to be fully pushed down.
