Eriez to showcase metal recovery solutions for wood industry at LIGNA 2019

During the week of May 27 – 31, on stand F02, Hall 25, Eriez Europe will be exhibiting its broad range of metal separation and metal detection products at LIGNA 2019.

Removal of damaging and potentially harmful metal contamination is critically important within the wood industry. Failure to detect and separate metal contaminates effectively can be very costly and potentially dangerous to companies processing wood.

During the week of May 27 – 31, on stand F02, Hall 25, Eriez Europe will be exhibiting its broad range of metal separation and metal detection products at LIGNA 2019.

Showcasing for the first time outside the UK will be Eriez’ ATEX MetAlarm Detector. The ATEX MetAlarm Detector has been developed for use in hazardous environments, particularly in environments where potentially explosive dusts may be present, such as wood processing.

In environments where explosive dusts are present, sparks from undetected metal contamination could be a potential ignition source. The MetAlarm EX range for ATEX 21 and ATEX 22 dust zones provides a fully certified solution for customers looking to be alerted to the presence of metals in order to reduce the risk of explosions within their plants.

Also demonstrated at LIGNA will be the Eddy Current Separator (ECS), Eriez’ market-leading product for optimum separation of non-ferrous metals for woodchip. The ECS separates non-ferrous material within processing to generate higher product purity, by utilising permanent rare earth magnets to induce eddy currents into metallic particles. Full demonstrations of the ECS will be provided throughout the week, showcasing its complete separation capability. Visitors are welcome to bring samples to the stand for testing.

Speaking about the ECS Lloyd Williams, Product Manager, commented, “We’ve worked closely with our customers to develop our Eddy Current Separators according to their application requirements. Following their feedback, our ECS provides unrivalled levels of non-ferrous recovery, ensuring maximum product purity. Following the installation of our ECS units, a number of woodworking companies have seen a vast improvement to their processing capabilities”.

In addition to the ECS, the TPI Suspended Magnet will be showcased from Eriez’ magnetic separation range. Suspended Permanent Magnets recover ferrous material and protect downstream material. The TPI Suspended Magnet incorporates a higher strength dual pole magnet design to offer improved separation of smaller tramp iron. A reduction of belt wear is achieved through lifting horizontally, ensuring a longer product life. The TPI Suspended Magnet is used in the removal of items such as nails and screws in wood processing within waste wood applications.

Speaking about the LIGNA exhibition, Gareth Meese, Sales Director, said, “With woodworking being one of our primary industries, we are very much looking forward to exhibiting at LIGNA 2019. We are exhibiting a selection of metal separation and detection products from that are ideal for the wood industry. We encourage visitors to bring samples with them so we can demonstrate how our products can provide the best solution to any detection and separation problem.”
