Set of cooling units for engine test center

Cooling group including 3 water/oil coolers (RFI 250, RFI 300 and RFI H100) and a hydraulic unit (Skid 800)

At Airbus, decarbonization is no longer a question: it is an objective, for which concrete projects are committed and about to produce their first tangible results.

Thus, the ZEROe project aims to fly 100% electric aircraft, incorporating hydrogen fuel cell systems and electric motors which must be powerful, efficient and reliable.

To develop these engines, Airbus is calling on the teams from Nidec Leroy-Somer who have been designing and testing these future electric motors for 2 years now.

The Angoulême R&D center contacted EURODIFROID to provide its expertise on "temperature management" issues on the test benches, during engine efficiency tests (which are then pushed to their maximum limits of use ).

The final configuration:

- A main refrigeration unit, directly dedicated to the test bench, consisting of an RFI 300 and an RFI H100;

- Equipped with a system dedicated to the management of this cold unit, including an RFI 250 and a SKID 800 for the hydraulic management of the whole (in partnership with ENGIE Energies Service).

In these photos, our teams are working jointly with the Nidec Leroy-Somer teams to finalize end-of-production tests in our premises in Seiches-sur-le-Loir.

Other tests will then be carried out on the end-use site, in order to carry out the final settings and continue the development of the engines.

A superb technical and industrial collaboration.
