New PRIME-600 by SMC

More than just a Micro-ohm Meter

SMC is pleased to introduce in the marketplace a new test equipment, the PRIME-600, with a test current from 5 to 600 A, pure DC, and up to 6 V to work with long test leads. The equipment measures both in static and dynamic terms, very low resistance values from 0.1 micro ohms up to 1 ohm, in an efficient and safe way.

The PRIME-600 meets the requirements from all Electrical Utilities around the world, as most utilities have defined their own particular test current level for their contact resistance testing. The IEEE recommendation is for a minimum of 100 A, however we find requirements for 200A, 300A and even up to 600A.

The main different function of the PRIME-600 is that it is able to record and graph the variation of the contact value resistance during the opening of the CB contact under test, getting a sample every 30 micro seconds, this is denominated as DRM (Dynamic Resistance Measurement). DRM graph is an efficient way to assure the working status of an SF6 or Vacuum breaker arcing contact on site.

The PRIME-600 may work with Dual Grounded test objects, which is a safety issue required by most customers.

Some of the other features included in the PRIME-600 are: a Touch panel Display, Pre-defined test modes, Automatic De-magnetization, Built-in printer, Removable USB storage, PC download and reporting, Temperature Normalization, and a water proof ABS case.

As usual with SMC test equipment, simplicity and ease-of-use are common to all our solutions, making easier to our customers their daily testing work; flexible equipment which functions can be increased by adding accessories or components that the customer can add depending on budget and specific needs; test sets which are more adapted to the needs of customers and the applications, designed from the essential values and philosophy of quality, service, respect, equal treatment and search of customer satisfaction at all time.
