Management of wastewater from surface treatments in the aerospace industry

Case study

The Client

One of the major players operating in the aviation (propulsion, equipment and interiors), defense and space markets. The company has a global presence, with more than 95,000 employees worldwide. Active on the engines, aircraft interiors and equipment markets, they offer a comprehensive range of solutions to civil and military aerospace companies.

The Client’s needs

To reduce the high costs related to waste water disposal and to reduce the environmental impact of one of their aircraft engines manufacturing plants in China.

The solution provided

The system provided consists of an EVALED evaporator type PC F 6, with a production capacity of 6 ton/day of distillate and a footprint of 4.6 m2, made in Superduplex stainless steel. The PC is the line of heat pump vacuum evaporators designed to treat liquids with a high content of dissolved solids while minimizing the fouling and scaling phenomena thanks to low temperature evaporation. Dedicated to water reuse, the PC F is ideal in case of highly corrosive wastewaters and suitable for temperature sensitive products. The payback is often measurable in months.

The results

• Water reused: ~90%

• Concentration factor: ~10 times

• 85% disposal cost reduction

• Water reuse within the production process

Thanks to the proven reliability of the technology provided, the client chose EVALED evaporators as a solution to treat the wastewater in other manufacturing plants of its Group in Europe.
