EXTRCOOL, the Match Between Load and Cooling That Decides the Route
Cold Plate, Immersion or Spray: Why Compute Density, Budget and O&M Capability, Not Sophistication, Pick the Route
Single-chip power in the hundreds of watts has pushed air cooling past its noise and energy ceiling, and the industry splits mainstream liquid cooling into three routes by how coolant touches the heat source: cold plate with indirect contact, immersion and spray with direct contact. Cold plate attaches a plate to the CPU and GPU surface without core hardware redesign and fully meets 20 to 40kW per rack. Immersion holds PUE within 1.05 for supercomputing, and spray jets coolant onto chips as a local supplement needing validation. EXTRCOOL provides one-stop liquid cooling solutions.
