800VDC Reshapes the CDU, One Booth for Power, Backup and Cooling
1MW Rack, 1/15 Current, 1/225 Line Loss: The 800-Volt Rewrite That Folds CDU, Power Shelf and 5000A Busbar Into One Booth
An 800VDC white paper is rewriting the cabinet: moving a megawatt rack from 54 to 800 volts cuts the current to roughly one fifteenth and line loss to one two-hundred-twenty-fifth, against 200 kilograms of copper busbar and a power shelf eating 64U at low voltage, and the CDU rewrite lands on the input, a 2.5-megawatt liquid-to-liquid unit carrying 800VDC with three hot-swap pumps in 3+0 configuration. The path splits into three segments, outermost converting 10-13.8kV AC to 800 volts at 98.5 percent efficiency, middle stepping down with backup, innermost running a 5000-ampere busbar, four systems that used to sit in three tender packages now sharing one DC bus and one cooling loop.
