FUM06 Clamp type vs. FUM03 Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flowmeters|Which One Should You Choose
In practical flow measurement, the first question that usually needs to be clarified is “Can the pipeline be modified?” In many sites, the measurement technology itself is already mature. The real limitations often come from whether the system allows shutdown, pipe cutting, or any modification to existing pipelines.
The FUM06 Clamp type ultrasonic flow transmitter is suitable for pipe diameters ranging from DN50 to DN300. It is intended for long-term continuous monitoring and system integration, providing stable and comparable trend data for energy management, process control, or cooling system monitoring. This type of installation is typically planned or already incorporated into the system design stage, making it suitable as a fixed measurement point.
The FUM03 Clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter is suitable for smaller pipe diameters from DN8 to DN50 and is particularly well suited for existing pipelines, temporary measurements, or situations where any pipeline modification is not feasible. With clamp-on installation on the outside of the pipe, flow information can be obtained quickly, making it commonly used for verification, energy-efficiency assessments, or short-term monitoring requirements.
By first clarifying whether the measurement point allows pipeline work, the pipe diameter, and whether the measurement requirement is short-term or long-term, it becomes straightforward to determine whether to adopt the clamp-type installation of FUM06 or the clamp-on installation of FUM03.
