From Differential Pressure to Air Flow | Average Flow Measuring Tube (Pitot Tube) & Differential Pressure Transmitter

In duct air velocity and flow measurement, the combination of an Average Flow Measuring Tube (Pitot tube) and a differential pressure transmitter uses the pressure difference between total pressure and static pressure as the basis of calculation.

This pressure difference corresponds to the dynamic pressure of the airflow. Based on the relationship between dynamic pressure and velocity, the air velocity can be calculated, and the airflow rate can then be derived accordingly.

The AFMP Average Flow Measuring Tube (Pitot tube) features a multi-port pressure sensing structure that performs multi-point pressure sampling across the duct cross-section. This design makes the measured differential pressure more representative of the actual flow condition, reducing the influence of localized flow variations that may affect single-point measurements.

The differential pressure signal generated by the AFMP is transmitted to the PHM330 differential pressure transmitter for precise measurement and signal conversion. The system then calculates the corresponding air velocity and airflow rate based on the relationship between differential pressure and velocity.
