Precise five-side machining, with 3-axis milling machines

The F-Tool square block offers an easy solution to such problems. In our example, two chucks fitted at 90° to each other on the square block form the basis. The universal workpiece carriers are accessible from five sides and also rotate 90° in the chuck. Clamping and unclamping the carrier is incredibly precise and can be done without almost any measurable error. The two chucks allow the workpiece to be clamped vertically as well as horizontally, which helps achieve maximum machining flexibility. The machined blanks can be installed on to a suitable workpiece carrier with the F-Tool clamping method, and subsequently clamped and unclamped in any axis direction. The workpiece is thus accessible for machining from five sides and can be fully machined in just one or in a maximum of two settings with optimum planning. In addition to massive time savings, this precision achieves a positive result, which could otherwise only be realised with much more expensive equipment. The F-Tool square block is available for EROWA chucks in sizes 50 and 80 as well as for System 3R.
