Laser Welding Machine Handheld

What's the features of Laser Welding?

In pure laser welding, no consumable filler material is used. The key feature of pure laser welding in steel joining applications is that the weld has the same material properties as the base material. In some cases, filler wire can be added to the laser weld, this can be cold fed wire or induction heated wire to reduce the thermal effects in the molten pool. Another common method is composite welding, where laser and gas shielded welding processes are combined. In composite welding, the heat input is higher than in pure laser welding, but still much lower than in conventional gas shielded welding. Composite welding allows for higher welding speeds and thicker materials.

Laser welding processes are almost always used for automated, large-scale applications with welding speeds of 1-5 m / min. Traditional CO2 lasers are still in use, mainly for larger panel welding lines, but fiber lasers are becoming more common in newly installed laser welding lines and are the only choice for today's advanced 3D robotic welding lines. Laser welding and laser composite welding are standard working methods in the automotive, shipbuilding and railroad industries, and are growing rapidly in the fields of agricultural equipment, dump truck bodies and containers.

Laser welded plates have played a major role in every car produced over the years. There are structural parts in automobiles with different thicknesses and different steel types, such as subframes, support bars, reinforcements and safety components, etc. Hundreds of millions of laser welded plates (LWTB) are produced every year by 3D robotic welding lines.

Laser welding is a low heat input welding method with a very narrow full penetration weld, which allows the weld to end up being quite aesthetically pleasing. Laser welding is in many cases the only welding method when joining large thin sheets to avoid thermal distortion of the final product. Laser welding is the best welding method to minimize the loss of properties of the base material, such as hardness and strength.

For thinner gauge high strength wear resistant steels, laser welding is the best recommended welding method.
