faytech and Avionic Design GmbH develop touchscreen displays for the aviation industry

News Update

Pyramid AG: Subsidiary faytech AG and Avionic Design GmbH, subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG, jointly develop innovative touchscreen displays for the aviation industry

- Cooperation includes development of high-tech display solutions for digitalized aircraft cabins

- faytech’s touchscreen displays successfully pass temperature tests

- First in-flight use of jointly developed displays still planned for 2024

Munich, 18 October 2023 – faytech AG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pyramid AG (ticker symbol: M3BK, ISIN: DE000A254W52), and Avionic Design GmbH, a subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG, intend to cooperate further on display solutions for aviation. The collaboration will involve the joint development of high-tech (touch) display solutions for digitalized aircraft cabins. The completion of the first project opens an entry opportunity into the globally growing aviation market for Pyramid AG, a leading developer and manufacturer of IT solutions for automation and digitization for the retail, financial and industrial sectors.

In advance, the touchscreens developed and produced by faytech passed the temperature tests as part of the product qualification. The displays, which were optically bonded by faytech in a special process, not only met the technical requirements without any problems, but in particular withstood extreme conditions such as freezing cold (-55 °C) and high heat (+85 °C). The first flight with jointly developed displays is already planned for 2024.

Jörn Abraham, Managing Director of Avionic Design GmbH: “The direct connection of Avionic Design and faytech enables both companies to optimize products faster in their development phases and to guarantee a very short time-to-market. Avionic Design’s aerospace know-how and faytech’s world-leading optical bonding technology, as well as faytech’s production and testing capabilities, open up great opportunities for collaboration.”

Arne Weber, CTO of Pyramid AG, added: “The requirements for (touchscreen) displays for installation and use in aircraft are extremely high. I am correspondingly proud that we have reached this milestone in our company’s development. This is an impressive demonstration of the exceptional quality of our touchscreen solutions, which are the result of long-term, successful development work and high-quality production. It has helped us that we have already developed displays for extreme use in military applications. I can’t wait to sit in an aircraft in the future with touchscreen displays from faytech.”
