The advanced pipe crawler SIGMA HD is a remarkable inspection tool for an ample spectrum of inspections, from stormlines and sewer drainage to industrial applications and pipelines. The robot, or crawler, measuring 360mm (14.17”) in length, 120mm (4.72”) in width and 100mm (3.94”) in height (without camera raiser) can be used to inspect pipes from 150mm (6’’) and up. The cable length reaches an impressive figure of 600 meters (1,968’), depending on the specific crawler model.
One of the highlights of the new inspection system is a high level of modularity. The configuration can easily be tailored according to the needs of the customer. Options to choose from include different wheel sets, ranging from 93mm (3.6’’) to 350mm (14"), a motorized reel, which retracts and regulates the cable automatically using a Smart cable-laying mechanism, and an additional set of LED lights. A standard Sigma HD model comes with a manual reel. Wheels of different diameters either come as part of the set or can be purchased as an option.
In addition to the Tamron Full HDTV CMOS front camera with optical vibration compensation, the crawler possesses a rear camera with the same advanced technical parameters. As if this wasn’t enough, the camera has panning, tilting and zooming functions. The files captured during the inspection are saved and stored in the 256GB integrated memory. The camera head also has built-in laser measuring diodes, ultra-bright LED lights (4000LM), longitudinal and lateral axis positioning of the camera head. A sensor of Internal pressure, a gyroscope, an inclinometer and pitch and roll sensors greatly enhance the precision of the inspection and the quality of the inspection results.
The live image is displayed on a 17.3” color LCD touch-screen monitor (currently the largest monitor available in a mobile system), along with an additional 7” touch-screen monitor and a built-in computer with Telescan software which offers; intuitive control of the drive functions, the ability to measure defects and profile/plot the pipeline, prepare view and print reports, wifi connectivity, and control the movements of the crawler robot and PTZ HD camera head.
Despite this stunning choice of functions, the SIGMA HD advanced pipe crawler is affordably priced. Besides, thanks to the modular nature of the system, it is possible to save on less critical functions and include only what is necessary.
