New TROGLOTREK Cable Drum Frame Combines 300-Meter Reach With Portable Crawler Control.
The portable reel includes a 300-meter tether, an IP67 operator interface, a footage counter, an inclinometer, and support for WinCan-compatible workflows.
FIBERSCOPE has updated the TROGLOTREK sewer crawler with a redesigned cable drum frame that keeps the system portable while handling up to 300 meters (984 feet) of inspection tether.
A long working range makes a robotic pipe crawler more useful, but it also makes cable management harder. The reel needs to maintain a steady signal, handle field-retrieval loads, and provide the operator with reliable control over payout and recovery. It should do all this without making the compact crawler dependent on a vehicle for inspections.
The updated TROGLOTREK drum features a tubular-steel frame with solid aluminum housings. Buyers can choose a manual reel for simple operation or a fully motorized drum for frequent long-distance use.
The 4.0-mm cable uses a two-core twisted pair, Vectran strength member, and Kevlar reinforcement. Its calculated cable mass is 19 kilograms per kilometre, and its specified minimum breaking strength is 2.5 kN. A stainless-steel wet-end connection offers a corrosion-resistant field termination.
The cable drum’s temperature specifications are:

The frame includes an IP67 machined-metal control unit with a 5.6-inch high-brightness LCD. The built-in keyboard lets operators steer the crawler and add text to the inspection record.
The on-screen footage counter records the inspection distance, while the inclinometer and pressure-sensor data provide the operator with additional information about the crawler's position and system condition.
The control unit records MPEG-4 video and JPEG images to an SD card at 640-by-480 resolution. PAL and NTSC video are detected automatically. Optional Wi-Fi connectivity is available, and the system is compatible with WinCan sewer-inspection software.
Electrical specifications include a 10.8- to 14.6-volt DC operating range, 12-watt power consumption, and a lithium-ion power cell rated at over 96 watt-hours.
The frame is designed for TROGLOTREK use in municipal sewers, stormwater pipelines, culverts, and industrial drainage networks, where both inspection reach and portability matter when choosing equipment.
