FITT Bluforce in the Primitivo di Manduria DOC region
In the project for the recovery of reclaimed water was used FITT Bluforce
2,014 metres of FITT Bluforce DN315 PN 16 and 96 metres of FITT Bluforce DN200 PN16 were used in the project for the recovery of reclaimed water from the Acquedotto Pugliese (AQP) consortium purification plant, and its pumping into the existing irrigation networks of the municipalities of Pulsano and Leporano (TA).
The PVC-A polymer alloy, the material of which the FITT Bluforce pipes are made, was recommended as an improvement to the PE100 RC polyethylene pipes indicated in the original project at the basis of the tender.
FITT Bluforce pipes were favoured due to both performance and sustainability criteria.
This water supply pipe improves the hydraulic cross-section of the new pipeline and, thanks to the socket based joint system with gasket mechanically pre-inserted during the hot forming of the socket, guarantees perfect hydraulic tightness in the long term.
In addition, the FITT Bluforce system, the first PVC-A system in Europe to boast an SGS-certified EPD environmental product declaration, according to ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards, can reduce installation times and, consequently, the environmental and social impacts of the construction site.
The new system will be able to transport more than 5,000 m3/day of purified water to the project manifold to which the existing irrigation networks are connected, and will guarantee the necessary quantity of water even during the driest months, when water demand increases.
The use of treated waste water is a sustainable and effective response to reduce the water stress to which some territories are exposed, especially in the summer months. The area of the Pulsano plain is mainly used for viticulture and olive growing and is part of the Primitivo di Manduria DOC region.
