Customizable Form Holding Clamps
O.D. Form Holding Clamps Eliminate the Need for Custom Fixtures
Fixtureworks (Fraser, MI), a leading North American manufacturer and supplier of clamps, fixturing accessories, machine tool components and rollers & bumpers, expands its offering of O.D. Form Holding Clamps. These clamps make it easy to fit and hold small, thin and irregular-shaped workpieces.
O.D. Clamps feature customizable jaws that can be machined to fit and clamp onto the outer diameter of any workpiece. The jaws can be changed out to allow for quick workpiece changeouts on a dedicated fixture, saving on time, effort and money. Even complex workpieces that are difficult to hold with a chuck can be clamped securely in one easy operation.
Fixtureworks offers and expanding line of various form holding clamps. The CP120 model features four machinable aluminum collets in both 65 mm and 90 mm diameter sizes that clamp onto the circumference of the workpiece. Similar to the CP120, the CP125 model features eight machinable collet sections and can hold on to both inner (I.D.) and outer (O.D.) form surfaces. The CP125 is available in four sizes ranging from 65 mm to 160 mm diameters. The CP120 and CP125 feature steel bodies and have a part repeatability of +/- 0.03 mm. Adapters are available for both of these models that allow the clamps to be mounted on turning lathes.
Also available from Fixtureworks, the CP123 Form Holding Clamp is a round, wedge-style clamp featuring two machinable jaws. When the clamp screw on the side is tightened, both wedge-style jaws tilt toward the center to clamp on the outer diameter of the workpiece. The simple and compact design of this OD clamp permits multiple-parts holding arrangement. This OD clamp body is made from steel and has a part locating repeatability of +/- 0.08 mm.
The CP124 OD clamp model is a square-shaped with two wedge-style jaws, available in both a long and a shorter version. The shorter version is ideal for single workpiece holding, while the longer clamp version allows for multiple-piece dual applications, or for single longer workpieces. The CP124 body is made from aluminum and has a part repeatability of +/- 0.08 mm.
Along with the manual-operation O.D. Clamps, Fixtureworks also carries a pneumatic form holding clamp (AMCH-W) that features four machinable collet jaws. When air is applied, the center of the jaw is pulled downward, causing the jaw sections to tilt toward the center to clamp the workpiece. The allowable compression diameter is .6 mm, making it ideal for lost wax, die cast, extruded, drawn, and premachined workpieces. The AMCH-W clamp has a part repeatability of +/- 0.03 mm.
Form holding clamps are part of a wide range manual and pneumatic clamps by Fixtureworks that provide quick, secure and precise clamping solutions, adaptable to many different industrial applications and systems.
