Novitool Amigo: FLEXCO offers effective and reliable installation tools for conveyor belts

Novitool Amigo: FLEXCO offers effective and reliable installation tools for conveyor belts .

Food manufacturers use conveyor belts in their business operations to interlink individual production steps. The belt joints are of great importance. On the one hand, they must last a long time in order to avoid failures and down times. On the other, the joint must meet stringent hygiene standards. If the two ends are not joined seamlessly, deposits can solidify and form a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. The Novitool Amigo from Flexco provides service staff with an assembly system enabling them to produce joints efficiently.

Belts made of thermoplastic materials such as PVC or polyurethane are predominantly used in the food industry. The ends can be joined mechanically or spliced to make endless belts. In an endless belt the two ends are welded together, creating what seems to be a continuous unit. This joint is stable, extremely durable and, because it is seamless, no deposits accumulate. With the Novitool Amigo, the Flexco range includes a press which enables users to join conveyor belts quickly and easily without removing them from the system. It regulates the process and creates a controlled and uniform connection. The service engineer conveniently places the ends of the belt in the specific templates which are provided for the purpose. The fact that he does not have to carry out any preparatory work for accurate positioning saves a great deal of time. The templates secure the belt for trimming, thus ensuring an accurate cut. The press has a pre-heating function which removes any moisture remaining in the belt and therefore also prevents air from being trapped. In the welding process, the Amigo press applies heat to the belt ends in a controlled manner without physical contact. The service engineer produces a secure, high-quality splice in only a few minutes. The fact that the heating zone and temperature control are screened ensures consistent joint parameters regardless of ambient temperatures.

The Novitool Amigo is provided with various safety features. These include an integrated cutter which protects the operator from the blade during the single-stage cutting process. The blade must be in the starting position before the joining operation can be initiated. Furthermore, the heating wire will only work when the safety guard is closed. The heating wire is withdrawn into the unit and simultaneously cools when the ends of the belt have been joined. The Amigo is therefore a suitable machine for working on site, enabling safe operation and short assembly times.
