FPI Founders Wang Jian And Yao Naxin Invited to Attend the 16th ACCSI, Featuring In-Depth Discussions with Experts and Keynote Presentations

The 16th China Scientific Instrument Development Annual Conference (ACCSI 2023) was held at the Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Beijing from May 17th to 19th, 2023.

The theme of the annual conference was "Innovative Development of Industrial Interconnection - Helping Beijing Huairou Create a Source of Scientific Instrument Technology Innovation." The event attracted over 1500 academicians, experts, enterprise representatives, investors, and heads of testing institutions from the scientific instrument industry.

Wang Jian and Yao Naxin, co-founders of the FPI, were among the guests who attended the conference as industry specialists and representatives of prominent domestic manufacturers of high-end scientific instruments.

The China Annual Conference on the Development of Scientific Instruments has been hailed as the "Davos Forum" of the scientific instrument industry subsequent to 16 years of successful run. This annual conference aims to create an effective communication platform for pioneers in the scientific instrument industry, including "government, industry, education, research, use, capital, and media," to promote the development of Beijing's "two districts." Further assisting Huairou in establishing a source of technological innovation in scientific instruments and promoting the rapid and healthy growth of China's scientific instrument industry.

China Scientific Instruments Industrialization Summit (i100)

On the morning of 18 May, as an invited industry expert representative, FPI founder Wang Jian shared and discussed key issues regarding the "industrialization of scientific instruments" at the i100 China Scientific Instrument Industrialization Summit.

At the meeting, Wang Jian recounted the triumphant development of FPI's first product, the LGA laser gas analyzer, which defied all odds. He said the company invested all capital into the project, and the team devoted themself to product research and development. It took over 2 years to complete the independent development. In 2004, the first instrument was successfully applied to a steel company.

Not long ago, this analyzer was still running well in the customer's plant. Later on, FPI constructed a new exhibition hall, making it possible for customers to access an upgraded version of the LGA laser gas analyzer in exchange for the older one. The instrument is currently displayed in the FPI's exhibition hall.

Wang Jian, the company's founder, stated that in order to accomplish a product's value effect on a large scale, it is necessary to identify application needs in numerous segmented sectors, such as steel, petrochemical, laboratory, etc. Consequently, a product ought to evolve into a product series to satisfy the varying customer requirements of each application field.

The product portfolio should be built around various application areas, and a substantial amount of effort should be devoted to determining which applications are more deserving of in-depth investigation, selecting those with greater potential, and further meeting the demands of our customers.

According to Wang Jian, every product has its life cycle, from innovation and development to industrialization. Therefore, it is essential to ensure the dependability and reasonableness of the product while also satisfying customer requirements. Moreover, he exemplified that the company's R&D costs should be primarily concentrated on human resources costs; therefore, it is crucial for the team to be able to efficiently and rapidly launch products that satisfy customer requirements and can be manufactured at scale.

For each product's research and development, the team requires personnel. The first is essential technical personnel, and the second is market-demand-savvy specialists. The founder emphasized that it is only through teamwork that a company like FPI can surmount the challenges posed by products in various life cycles and develop excellent, innovative products that meet market demand.

Plenary report

As a special guest speaker at the conference on the 18th of May, FPI founder Yao Naxin released a report titled "Innovative Development Model of Domestic Scientific Instruments." During the conference, he touched on the market opportunities and obstacles encountered by domestic scientific instruments, the innovative development model of FPI, and the urgency of developing domestic scientific instruments.

Yao Naxin stated that the 14th Five-Year Plan launched new market opportunities for the scientific instrument industry, particularly in application sectors such as life sciences and environmental monitoring. Similarly, digital and intelligent instrument characteristics have become essential market requirements.

In the past two years, FPI has launched numerous innovative products in the field of life sciences, including liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry detection systems, nucleic acid mass spectrometry analysis systems, automatic capillary electrophoresis instruments, and mass spectrometry flow cytometers. Making FPI the market leader in China's instrumentation technology industry. In the field of environmental monitoring, FPI has independently developed a high-precision optical cavity decay (CRDS) greenhouse gas analyzer to meet the needs of research and monitoring in the fields of environment and meteorology, with all indicators exceeding the requirements of international organizations' standards.

FPI insists on independent innovation at all times and continues to increase its investment in research and development. The company has invested 16.41% of its revenue in R&D in the prior years. Based on the "platform" of fundamental technology development models, the company has developed a multiplicity of innovative, independent product series.

FPI actively pursues smart solutions, integrating independent innovative products into customers' smart production systems or laboratory systems and building intelligent systems from the source to the end, offering customers one-stop smart solutions and accelerating the implementation of overtaking curves.

FPI has adopted the "business partner" mechanism for talent development, allowing core team members to become partners of the incubated company, using equity to incentivize the team to innovate and start up, forming a "fleet" model for talent development, and successfully incubating subsidiaries including EXPEC Technology, Lingxi Optoelectronics, ChroMass Technology, GenWish, and GETOTEC. Due to the talent incentive mechanism and the company's accumulation of technology platforms over the years, the team has been able to produce a large number of outstanding, innovative products in a relatively short amount of time.

Co-founder Yao Naxin concluded by stating that in this era of rapid technological development, FPI, as the leading local manufacturer of high-end scientific instruments, must always maintain the original intention, uphold the spirit of innovation, promptly sense and actively respond to customer needs, and offer more intelligent, individualized, and excellent solutions. Future goals for FPI include gathering the strength of all industry participants, continuing to build an ecosystem of high-end scientific instruments, achieving resource sharing and win-win cooperation, and accelerating the achievement of high-level scientific and technological independence and self-improvement.
