South-South Cooperation in the Fight Against Climate Change: FPI Helps to Protect the Air Quality of Cambodia

South-South Cooperation to Combat Climate Change

In September 2020, FPI won the tender of "Ministry of Ecology and Environment's Low Carbon Demonstration Zone Project for Climate Change Response - Cambodia Environmental Monitoring Equipment Sub-project", providing 10 sets of air quality monitoring equipment and 1 set of Air Visual intelligent data management center platform, covering the whole process of project support from "production, packaging and transportation, on-site installation&commissioning and training". The project was officially launched in October 2021, and operation and maintenance has been running for nearly two years.

Recently, in order to further improve the management level and effectiveness of assistance projects, the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment held a meeting to promote the implementation of South-South cooperation material assistance projects to address climate change, and FPI, as an important partner in China's assistance to overseas environmental monitoring equipment and services, was invited to participate.

Mr. Wu Jianzhong, Deputy Director of Atmospheric Application Service Center of FPI, as the representative of the company, introduced the organization and management of the project, the history of the project, the quality control and effectiveness of the project, etc., and shared with the participants the experiences and lessons learned in the implementation of the project, and put forward a new perspective for the future cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental monitoring, and hope to continue to contribute to the fight against global climate change!

As a pioneer project of China's foreign aid for environmental monitoring equipment and services, FPI overseas engineering team went to the project site in Cambodia to perform on-site installation, system commissioning and training, and made good layout planning and contingency plans in each node of the project, such as pre-preparation, mid-implementation and post-acceptance, operation and maintenance. Through the construction of environmental air quality monitoring system and assessment system, this project helps to improve the level of environmental air quality monitoring in Cambodia and enhance the monitoring capacity of regional characteristic pollutants. At the same time, this project will become one of the most advanced environmental air quality monitoring centers in Cambodia, which will greatly promote the development of environmental protection in Cambodia, effectively enhance Cambodia's ability to cope with climate change, and become a model of South-South cooperation on climate change with Cambodia. The assistance project built by FPI effectively helps China and Cambodia to build South-South cooperation on climate change, expands the depth and breadth of China-Cambodia cooperation on ecological and environmental protection, effectively serves China and Cambodia to build a green "Belt and Road", promotes the building of a green China-Cambodia community, and has become a strategic linchpin and a typical example of South-South cooperation on environmental protection.
