FPI Mobile AQMS: Monitoring Air Quality in Punjab to Achieve a 'Smog-Free Punjab'

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has spearheaded the development of a comprehensive smog mitigation plan

Based on research data, it is evident that the air emissions in Punjab have shown a significant increase trend from 1990 to 2020, highlighting the increasingly severe air pollution issue. The survey results reveal that by 2020, Punjab's emissions had reached 3.5 times the level recorded in 1990, a trend that is deeply concerning.

In order to effectively address the issue of air pollution, the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has taken comprehensive strategic measures. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has spearheaded the development of a comprehensive smog mitigation plan, encompassing short-term measures and long-term strategies, with the aim of significantly reducing air pollution in Punjab.

In this initiative, real-time monitoring of the Air Quality Index (AQI) has become crucial. FPI has undertaken various tasks in the Punjab air monitoring project, including air quality monitoring systems and mobile AQMS. FPI's AQMS-1000 system is equipped with comprehensive EPA-certified gas analyzers, capable of monitoring common gases in the atmosphere such as O3, CO, SO2, NOx, as well as the key components of smog, PM2.5 and PM10. Utilizing optical methods for precise real-time monitoring of air component levels, the system transmits the latest air quality information to the local government, aiding prompt decision-making.

Compared to fixed stations, the mobile AQMS system integrates gas analyzers into vehicles, enabling comprehensive coverage of various areas within the city, serving as the green environmental protector of Punjab. This implementation of technological innovation will effectively improve environmental quality and contribute positively to safeguarding public health. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited FPI's mobile monitoring vehicles during the event, where FPI's Engineering Service Manager, Xiaoduo Xu, demonstrated how the instrument monitors Punjab's AQI indicator.

Looking ahead, FPI is confident in the Punjab government’s comprehensive smog mitigation plan and believes that through effective measures and continuous monitoring, air quality in Punjab will see significant improvement. With the utilization of FPI's AQMS-1000 system and mobile AQMS, FPI looks forward to witnessing more advanced technologies playing a role in environmental protection and air monitoring, contributing to the creation of a cleaner and healthier living environment.
