Gates Launces Advanced High-Torque Synchronous Belt for Industrial Applications
PowerGrip GT4 leverages industry-leading materials science and process engineering capabilities
LUXEMBOURG CITY, Oct. 2020 — Gates (NYSE: GTES)
PowerGrip GT4 has the highest power-carrying capacity on the market. The combination of a larger temperature range and improved chemical resistance produces outstanding all-round performance. This high-torque synchronous belt is ideal for the latest equipment, increasingly designed with narrower drives and developed for a much broader range of industrial applications. Gates will offer a full portfolio of PowerGrip GT4 belts in 8mm and 14mm tooth pitches, and lengths exceeding 6.5 meters.
Gates utilized its extensive OE knowledge to deliver the kind of design flexibility that plant and equipment manufacturers require in order to respond to the need for increased power capabilities that also meet stringent emissions control regulations.
While distributors can enjoy the benefits of promoting a belt with a higher-performance offering, end-users running industrial drives as part of their operations will also experience a lower total cost of ownership. The improved performance characteristics of the PowerGrip GT4 also support additional market opportunities, such as the trend to convert roller chain applications to belt drive solutions. This enables the replacement of high-maintenance chains with high-performance belts.
The PowerGrip GT4 reflects Gates’ dedication to innovation in materials science and process engineering. While many of the elastomer synchronous belts in the market today are made using chloroprene, a material that has performance limitations, the EE formulation of the new Gates PowerGrip GT4 belt delivers much higher performance. Having pioneered EE technology to automotive markets in the form of Micro-V® belts, Gates has been inspired to apply that success to the PowerGrip GT4 for industrial markets.
