Insert increases speed of assembly, reliability and offers significant maintenance savings

It is a soft sealing innovation that ensures leak-free joints in a wide range of hydraulic metal tubing can be achieved faster, with greater reliability, every time. The new DSO Cutting Ring from Gates – available for most popular hydraulic tube sized fittings - features a state-of-the-art design that combines two different sealing solutions within a perfect design. It is the bite of the cutting ring into the tube, in association with the perfectly chambered soft seal that deliver a perfect leak-free seal in moments.

Faster, reliable assembly

As the joint on a hydraulic metal tube is being assembled, the DSO cutting ring is pushed over the pipe. The conical shape of the groove on the inner O-ring ensures that sliding on is always easy. During assembly, the DSO cutting ring is inserted into the fitting with the metal pipe. The outer O-ring is fully chambered in the middle of the metal sealing surface. Tightening the nut presses the cutting ring firmly into the tube. The connection is secure according to the standard. The combination of two different sealing methods ensures the highest efficiency in sealing performance.

The external soft seal in the middle of the metallic sealing surface enables the seal to be fully chambered without over-tightening. In addition, the inner O-ring with a cone shaped groove ensures that the cutting ring can be easily pushed onto the pipe to provide a perfect seal after assembly.

Quick Leak-free sealing

The cutting ring assembly of the DSO can be done manually or mechanically (Gates Opticam 4s).

A standard cutting ring assembly retains the flexibility needed should vibration occur, while the soft seal prevents leakage. The soft seal can be replaced during maintenance work.

A significant advantage is the ability to replace soft seals achieved in this way easily, as part of any routine inspection, testing or preventive maintenance procedures.

It is anticipated that all such benefits will apply equally for applications used in industrial settings such as construction, agriculture, energy transportation, materials handling and the marine sector.
