Modulare bus system
Controlling pushbuttons and switches via IO-Link
Fieldbus systems, industrial Ethernet and also IO-Link are part of the industrial field and simplify the structure of automation systems. To easily integrate different elements into the control of machines or systems, the Modular Bus System (MBS) of SCHLEGEL is useful. SCHLEGEL has recently expanded its MBS with a basic and an extension module to control pushbuttons and switches via IO-Link.
As is usual for the Modular Bus System both modules have space for up to 8 pushbuttons or switches which can be arranged in 3 different grids (25 mm, 27 mm or 30 mm). Only one cable is needed to connect the modules to each other.
The MBS IO-Link modules include the following functions: Operating hours meter, monitoring of switching cycles, monitoring of the hardware, monitoring for failure of the illumination and dimming or night design for the same. The IO-Link specific status indication additionally shows the status of the connection.
The IO-Link specification 1.1.2 and the ports of Class A and B are supported. The operating temperature ranges from -10°C to up to 50°C and the system voltage is 24 V which is provided via the IO-Link master.
SCHLEGEL´s Modular Bus System allows a simple and fast integration of pushbuttons and switches into the control of machines and systems. For this purpose, a basic module of the MBS with the corresponding system node for each fieldbus system or Industrial Ethernet is needed. The communication with the pushbuttons and switches is then completely conducted via the modular bus system. This way, up to 128 pushbuttons, pilot lights etc. can be easily and directly controlled when using an additional extension module. Time-consuming wiring that is also prone to error thus is no longer necessary.
