New GIS electric chain hoist GP

Endurance runner for tough conditions

GIS AG, based in Schötz, Lucerne, has been developing and manufacturing electric chain hoists for more than 50 years and sells them to its distribution partners worldwide.

With the new GP (GIS polygon) series, the innovative KMU has now landed a special coup. Performance features were considerably improved. As a 1 fall version, the new type GP500 is able to lift full 800 kg instead of 500 kg as before, with the same operation time and switching frequency as the previous model. Depending on its application, lifting capacity is increased up to 60%, the customer benefits from a 4-times life time of the chain hoist with previous lifting capacity.

The complete chain fall is designed with a static safety factor of at least 8 (FEM 2m/ ISO M5). This considerably reduces the wear and tear of the components and increases their life time. The case hardened and manganese phosphated profile steel chain provides about 15% more capacity at an identical nominal diameter compared to the round steel chain. Furthermore, the new chain has an excellent corrosion resistance and improved emergency operating features.

The completely closed, helical geared, three-stage gear with permanent grease lubrification provides a considerably quieter operation of the electric chain hoist GP. Noise emission could be considerably reduced from 75 dB to 65 dB due to this "black box" in the chain hoist housing, the chain wheels with 5 to 7 pockets as well as the horizontal and vertical supported chain.

The protection class IP65 is new as a standard version and guarantees dust tightness and protection against water jets. The GP is suitable for dusty surroundings as well as for outdoor use, due to its compact and robust design. Proven components like the DC spring-loaded brake and the dry-running slipping clutch have been kept. The control switch fits comfortably for hand usage and due to its parallel arranged push buttons, an ergonomic and fatigue-free work is ensured, also during long operating times.

Special attention was given to modularity and maintenance effort with easy access to wear parts during development. The GP is easy in its construction and does not contain any sensitive electronics. The operation temperature is reduced by 30% to 60°C, compared to the previous model, due to the flanged-mounted motor with external cooling. All shaft-hub connections are built in a self-centring polygonal design. Thus, disassembly and assembly are quicker and no special tools are needed, while reducing service costs.

The series GP 250/500 is available with a - one- or three-phase electrical connection as standard and offers 1 and 2 speeds models with different lifting speeds. A wide range of accessories and options like radio remote control, frequency inverter, operating data counters, safety load locking hook and special controls are available. Several special products are offered for customer-specific applications, for example for synchronised lifting of long and bulky loads or for single-handed positioning of goods. Customer-specific crane systems in combination with GISKB aluminium or steel profiles are possible.

All models of the new generation have one thing in common: They are robust and long-lasting, thus product warranty was extended to three years.
