What is NIC Teaming

Allows grouping between one and 32 physical Ethernet network adapters into one or more virtual network adapters

Nic Teaming is a grouping of network cards in a computer, mainly used in Windows Server systems with the possibility of being activated in Windows 10 as long as the computer has 2 or more network cards.

This feature allows the physical or virtual network cards available in a computer to be grouped and pooled together to provide load balancing, fault tolerance and high availability.

NIC teaming allows you to group between one and 32 physical Ethernet network adapters into one or more software-based virtual network adapters. These virtual network adapters provide fast performance and fault tolerance in the event of a network adapter failure.

If one of our adapters fails for any reason we will still keep the network connection active avoiding connection losses.

There are 3 different methods of NIC Teaming grouping:

- Static Teaming: also called "Generic Teaming", and based on the IEEE 802.3ad (draft) standard. This method is supported by most corporate switches and requires configuration of the switch and the server to identify which connections form the team.

- Switch Independent: This method does not require team members to connect to different switches, although it is possible and recommended.

- LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protocol): also called "Dynamic Teaming", based on IEEE 802.1ax. Supported by most corporate switches and allows the automatic creation of Teams using the LACP protocol, which dynamically identifies the links between the server and a specific switch. Generally requires configuration on the switch.
