Four tips for choosing the right interactive terminal for your sector

Sector of application, industrial components, vandalism protection and logistics key aspects to be considered

More and more sectors are incorporating interactive terminals to simplify procedures as diverse as paying in a shop, ordering and paying in fast food restaurants or to speed up the provision of books in libraries, for example.

Not only large supermarket chains, restaurants or public administrations are committed to installing digital kiosks, but also small and medium-sized companies are aware of the advantages offered by interactive terminals to improve the customer experience and optimise business resources.

Grupo EOS Ibérica, with almost 30 years of experience in industrial design and manufacturing of unattended and self-service technological solutions, we understand the importance of choosing the right interactive terminal for each sector.

If you are a small or medium-sized company and you are thinking of installing an interactive terminal, there are a series of aspects that you should take into account.

Here is some advice that you should follow before acquiring your interactive terminal:

1. APPLICATION SECTORS

Before deciding which interactive terminal you want, it is essential to consider the productive sector to which your company belongs. Are you a clothing shop, a petrol station, a restaurant or a pharmacy? Each sector has specific needs that must be met by the interactive terminal selected. For example, a restaurant will need a terminal that allows self-ordering and self-payment while a library needs options to speed up the book lending process.

2. CHOICE OF INDUSTRIAL COMPONENTS

An interactive kiosk basically consists of metal, software and computer components.

At Grupo EOS Ibérica we specialise in the industrial design and manufacture of interactive terminals involving metal, hardware (industrial components) and design. Our aim is to meet the specific needs of each customer. Our sales team is able to advise you on the industrial components that your interactive terminal must incorporate in relation to the functionalities that it must fulfil: type of touch screen and size, ticket printers or A4 format, scanner, QR code reader, payment cards, DNIe readers, barcodes, fingerprint, webcam, among others.

For this reason, EOS Ibérica is the perfect partner for developers, consultancies, software factories, or engineering companies.

3. VANDAL-PROOF PROTECTION

The physical security of the interactive terminal is essential, especially if it is a kiosk that will be installed outdoors as it will be exposed to inclement weather and possible vandalism.

If the interactive terminal is outdoors, it must be made of stainless steel. If it is made of INOX 304, it is an optimal solution for solutions exposed to non-extreme ambient temperatures, water and mild chemical products. On the other hand, if the interactive terminal is going to be located in aggressive environments, maritime or with extreme temperatures due to both cold and heat, it is better to opt for a kiosk made of INOX 316, which is also more resistant to corrosion. They should also include anti-graffiti treatments.

These outdoor self-service machines should also be manufactured to IP65 specifications to protect against weather conditions such as rain, snow or wind. The screens must include a low-reflection, high-transmission anti-vandalism glass and an anti-fogging system.

At Grupo EOS Ibérica we know how important it is to protect these devices against vandalism and adverse weather conditions. That is why we manufacture our terminals with resistant materials such as stainless steel, and we apply anti-vandalism treatments to guarantee their durability and protection.

4. LOGISTICS AND TRACKING

Once you have chosen the interactive terminal, you must take into account how it will be transported and how it will be installed. All this information must be provided by the manufacturer of the digital kiosk.

At Grupo EOS Ibérica our work does not end with the industrial design, manufacture and integration of the industrial components, but we also take the finished product to the installations indicated by the client.

Our logistics team is in charge of managing everything related to shipments. We work with the most reliable and secure companies in the transport sector. In addition, we track the order by means of the dispatch number. This ensures that the interactive terminal arrives at its final destination.

Likewise, the customer can also check at all times what day the shipment has been sent, at what time, where it is and the estimated time of delivery for peace of mind.

At EOS Ibérica we offer a 24 and 48 hour delivery service.
