Diamonds in the Drive: Tokyo Institute's Quantum Leap for Electric Vehicles
In 2023, the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan announced they have developed a diamond quantum sensor capable of increasing the endurance of electric vehicles by about 10%.
This technology utilizes the properties of chemical and physical stability of the NV diamonds to precisely measure the amount of stored power.
They embedded the newly developed diamond quantum sensor to the metal parts, thereby successfully improved the accuracy and optimized the performance of batteries. Yamazaki company aims to make this diamond quantum sensor technology practical as early as 2030 and supply to car manufacturers and Component manufacturers.
