Testing of charging technology for electromobility

Testing systems for electrical components delivered to globally operating company in electrical engineering

Globally operating in electrical engineering, electronics and automation the Phoenix Contact Group attaches great importance to innovation and quality. In this context, material testing and component testing are of crucial importance.

For the area of electromobility and the charging technology required for this, the group is investing in 4 universal testing machines from Hegewald & Peschke. This means that 19 testing machines have already been delivered to the Phoenix Contact Group worldwide and now make a decisive contribution to the quality and safety of the products. The testing machines are used at locations in Germany, India, the Czech Republic and China, among others. The spectrum of the delivered testing technology ranges from the small inspekt solo 2.5 kN to the robust inspekt table 100 kN.

The current testing machines are equipped, among other things, with an X-Y cross table on which either the lower fixture or customer-specific fixtures can be mounted. This allows the fixture to be moved sideways as well as forwards or backwards in order to be able to clamp even complicated components and still ensure axial testing. Charging cables, charging sockets and charging controls - all these components are tested in different ways in order to be optimally prepared for their use from the charging station to the electric car. In addition to electrical plug connections, ultrasonic welded connections of electrical conductors are also tested. Furthermore, pull-out tests of copper strands are carried out.
