Innovative modular system for standard-compliant furniture testing

Hegewald and Peschke equips Polish office chair manufacturer

The demands placed on office chairs are many and varied. They must be able to withstand all everyday stresses and strains. Grospol - a Warsaw-based Polish manufacturer of office furniture - uses furniture testing technology from Hegewald & Peschke to efficiently test this safety and durability.

The core of the delivery was a furniture test field from the variable modular system, consisting of two pneumatic test axes, various pressure stamps and a drop tester with seat impactor and drop weights. The test cylinders can be combined individually or coordinated in a test program using the sophisticated CalMaster test software. The test bay is supplemented by roller-guided profile components. This makes it easy to set up the tests according to the size of the test specimen.

Among other things, alternating bending loads, linear tests and drop tests can be carried out according to EN 1728, EN 1335 and BIFMA X5.1, for example:

- Seat/backrest testing

- Armrest test

- Alternating seat load (side-to-side)

- Pull-out tests on shutters

- Drop tests for impact loading (seat impact tests or drop tests)

In addition, a swivel test was supplied, which can be used both for roller testing on different floor coverings and for testing seat underframes.

The special feature of the modular system is that the customer can assemble individual components individually. The "catalogue" contains various test field dimensions, supplementary profiles, force-controlled/displacement-controlled test axles with different stroke and load range as well as accessories. In this way, the test field can be individually assembled according to the customer's requirements and optimised precisely for the applications. This enables Hegewald & Peschke to shorten delivery times despite individualisation and remains flexible in terms of additions and retrofitting or conversion.
