FX20 Series, 0.5mm Pitch, Floating, Board-to-Board Connectors with Double Beam Contacts
The FX20 series has been introduced to meet the requirement for floating connectors that can absorb mounting misalignment in applications where multiple stacking connectors are used.
The connector range consists of headers and receptacles that allow a vertical or right-angle board-to-board connection.
The header connector has a unique floating structure embedded inside the fixed base of the housing. This allows an alignment movement in XY directions of +/- 0.6mm minimum to absorb mounting misalignment, vibration and dimensional errors. Large mating guides on each side of the connector allow for an alignment movement of +/-1.2mm in XY directions to simplify the mating operation and prevent incorrect insertion.
The receptacle features double beam contacts. Each beam is designed with a different contact force to ensure dissimilar vibration characteristics and different resonant frequencies to minimise damage between the contacts and achieve high vibration resistance. Furthermore the first beam contact has a self-cleaning function which eliminates dust from the contact path of the second beam contact to increase contact reliability.
Hirose’s popular FX18 high-speed, board-to-board connector series shares the same stack height variants as FX20, therefore both can be combined on the same board to offer a flexible high- speed capability. In addition, the FX22 series can be combined to provide a coplanar connection.
