The overall project was completed ahead of schedule.
Project Background
Route 8 Length: 33.1 km, Route 8 is an arterial highway in the New Territories of Hong Kong, connecting Tai Wai in Sha Tin District and Chek Lap Kok in Islands District. It includes four toll tunnels: Eagles Peak Tunnel, Sha Tin Ridge Tunnel, Tai Wai Tunnel and Lantau Link. Route 8 passes through: Airport Road, North Lantau Highway, Lantau Main Line, Kap Shui Mun Bridge, Tsing Ma Bridge, Tsing Yi Northwest Interchange, Nam Wan Tunnel and Tsing Sha Highway. Along the way, the trunk line connects with Route 3 (Tsing Yi, Lai Chi Kok), Route 7 (Butterfly Valley) and Route 9 (Tai Wai).
