What is Torque Wrench Calibration?

Ensure regular service and calibration of your torque wrenches for safety, speed and accuracy!

Calibration of any controlled equipment is a vital procedure in ensuring tools are working within the boundaries of which they have been certified to do so, by giving correct readings, correct output and most of all providing a safe working tool and environment for the end user.

So it is vital and a legal obligation that tools must be fit for purpose.

What is Calibration?

Calibration is a method of determining and documenting the output of the tool while comparing it to the input measuring gauge, this is generally followed by some adjustment of the tool to bring into calibration and within tolerance set out by the manufacturer while assuring the deviation between the input value to the output value is within the range.

Why Do We Calibrate?

With tooling continuously in use they experience a typical amount of wear and tear, as expected the performance and therefore accuracy tend to drift off over time to some extent. Although what we input into the tool is the same. The output due to the wear and tear of the internals becoming physically different in dimension as expected will give a slightly different output.

To Optimise Safety, Quality and Schedule we must have:

- A Process that is driven by safety for customers and employees

- A tool that is fit for purpose, works within its boundaries and delivers accuracy over time

- Collaboration between Manufacturer and Client assuring regular maintenance and scheduled calibration is adhered to in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
