Malaysia Deploys Solar-Powered 4G Emergency Call Pillars to Strengthen Highway Safety Communications

Malaysia has recently enhanced its highway safety infrastructure with the successful deployment of solar-powered 4G emergency call pillars, installed and commissioned by our company across several major highway sections. Designed with integrated solar panels and high-capacity lithium batteries, these units provide fully wireless, maintenance-free, and all-weather emergency communication—significantly improving response capability for road incidents.

The project was executed in close partnership with the local highway communication authority. Installations were strategically placed at critical points including elevated bridges, tunnel entrances, highway ramps, and areas with a higher frequency of accidents. Each pillar features a high-efficiency solar module, intelligent charge controller, and long-lasting lithium battery capable of sustaining over five days of continuous operation, even during prolonged cloudy or rainy conditions.

Equipped with a built-in 4G communication module, the system links directly to the highway control center, enabling one-touch emergency calling, remote status monitoring, and accurate location reporting. To avoid disrupting traffic, installation teams worked overnight to position and configure the pillars. Once activated, the solar modules began charging automatically, and indicator lights confirmed stable system performance. Test calls to the control center demonstrated clear audio and strong network connectivity, validating the system’s reliability in real-world environments.

According to the project manager, the solar-powered 4G solution significantly reduces the need for traditional cabling and external power supplies, lowering infrastructure costs while improving installation efficiency and long-term maintenance. This makes the system ideal for remote, off-grid, or challenging environments such as highways, mountain roads, bridges, and tunnels.

Additionally, the emergency pillars support multilingual voice prompts and remote firmware updates, offering flexible customization to meet regional or project-specific needs. Moving forward, our company aims to continue expanding collaboration across Southeast Asia and Belt and Road regions, promoting intelligent, sustainable, and robust communication solutions that contribute to safer and smarter transportation networks worldwide.
